Cancer Research UK - Financial Support:

Running a business as a freelancer and being a makeup artist for over 10 years, then to lost your health can be incredibly tough.

I had to sadly cancel over 25 bookings between the space of 4 months, which I found extremely difficult to do.

Telling my wonderful clients was difficult, but all my clients were so understanding and so wonderful.

They were also supportive throughout my treatment.

Not being able to work as a freelance hair and makeup artist and as a Teacher was really difficult. But I had to concentrate on my health and getting better.

Worrying about earning money means nothing if you don't have your health.

We are lucky that my husband has a great job and earns well, as well as him having fantastic support from his boss. But I was able to get financial benefit support via Maggies Centre being a Cancer patient, which has been extremely helpful. Especially having a mortgage and bills, but we have managed fine thankfully and I am now back at work and slowly getting back into what I love.

The Maggies Centre at Charing Cross Hospital is fantastic as they help you fill in all the complicated forms for financial help. It can be very confusing and an added stress that you just don't need, but the helpful volunteers at Maggies really help and take that weight off your shoulders.

I'm looking forward to getting back to work, I've appreciated my love and enjoyment of my work even more now. Having sitting at home all day in ill health for months, it's been an eye opener for me and reset my perspective.

No matter how difficult this ordeal has been fighting for my health and my business. Nothing will bring my spirits down or make me give up the fight to survive.

As well as fighting for my health, I've also been fighting for my business, for my identity.

I've been advised to say nothing more on this now. Patience is a virtue.

But there's a saying I like to live by:

"Be Kind, You Never Know What Someone Is Going Through."

Thank you to all those that have supported me with my Cancer and with my business.
